Following the tremendous success of the Italian Opera Gala, Melbourne Opera is back with the first full-scale, fully staged opera performance in the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre -and it's one of the greatest and most entertaining of comedies, Rossini's hilarious The Barber of Seville.

 With an all star cast featuring Philip Calcagno as the interfering Barber Figaro, Melbourne Opera's production is a proven audience winner with sell out seasons throughout the country. And Melbourne Opera will bring full chorus,orchestra and sets for this exciting evening.

Set in Seville, the comedy tells of Figaro's outwitting of the lascivious Dr Bartolo as he attempts to marry his ward,Rosina. Packed full of showpiece arias and scintillating ensembles, The Barber of Seville remains one of the most popular comic operas ever written and never fails to delight audiences and send them home with a smile on their faces.
